I'm an Australian artist ('OZ' refers to the slang for 'Australia') not to be confused with a couple of other artists of the same name.
I paint a range of things, and like to experiment with styles – but colour and some level of abstraction are key aspects of my art.
If you see something you like, please contact me to check availability or discuss commissions.
I'm still in the process of constructing and filling this site.... so also visit my Instagram (which I use regularly),

2025 – ‘Diurnal Landscapes’ Series
(initially called the ‘Divided Landscapes’ series)
I'm fascinated by the middle-line state between pure abstraction and representation in landscape. In my most recent works I've employed a literal dividing line within my subjects that immediately push the subject from being real, to abstract – but the line also serves a purpose; it represents a simultaneous potential viewing of a landscape view at two differing times of day, or differing light conditions. Each half of the painting can be looked at separately, and imagined as the same landscape just interlinked; but looking at the whole, with sometimes unrealistic colour pairings, the painting takes on the notion of still recognisable, but also purely abstract piece of fiction and construction.
This suite of works is now starting to roll out to various venues and listings
– contact me if you’re interested in info about any of the works shown here.
I didn’t have a solo exhibition in 2024, just involvement in group shows and online representation.
My 2023 exhibition was with Sketch Co. Gallery, Surry Hills, Sydney.
See my Exhibitions page for more images.
Exhibition – 2022 ‘Wasn’t expecting that’
A joint exhibition at Project Gallery 90 (June 23 to July 6), Paddington, Sydney was a continuation of abstract themed artworks.
Exhibition – 2021
This exhibition from 4-18 August 2021 continued my explorations with abstraction that commenced a few years ago – it included a number of elements of loose linework, mark-marking and a more muted palette than have appeared in my previous paintings. It's an 'escape' back to a more intuitive painting style, and to the potential to progress a more logical relationship to my other historical painting genres of landscape and figurative art. Go to my Exhibitions page to see some of the works.
Some small works exhibited at Project Gallery 90, Sydney.
Above: some recent posts from my Instagram feed.
I’d consigned a number of small artworks – a mix of abstracts and landscapes with the Corner Store Gallery, in Orange, NSW.
Peach Mist
A recently completed commission for a fab unit in Balmain, Sydney. This artwork faces the dining room and kitchen and is hinged to allow access to a mess of room controls. This was based on a smaller ‘Coloursubject’ work the clients saw on Instagram – we muted the colours and changed the palette slightly to work perfectly in the space with furniture and interior finishes, while still retaining a striking (but also a calming) presence within the room.
‘Attention Please’
was the name of my recent solo exhibition at Project Gallery 90, Paddington, Sydney – showing from 20 August to 2 September 2020; which was split between across venues – the main gallery, plus the Annex space nearby. (See additional photos on my Exhibitions page).
‘Ode to Colour’
group show at Project Gallery 90 (1 – 14 October 2020) – this photo shows two of my 4 included artworks: ‘Freedive’ and ‘Duckdive’ – each 140 x 120cm.
Outback Crossing (part of my Strata series – and now sold) one of four paintings consigned to Art to Art in Melbourne (see my Consigned Artworks page for more info).
Some sample works from my ongoing Strata series…
These paintings are from my ‘Coloursubjects’ series – works based on a predominant colour, incorporating a series of contrasting and sympathetic colours placed around the periphery, but providing dynamism and focal interest. This series has its genesis in consideration of the abstract expressionists, but continues in an area they touched upon, but generally didn’t pursue.
A variety of seascapes previously consigned to Aarwun gallery in Canberra…
These semi-abstracted landscape works are from 2018.
